We value the support of young people and encourage their involvement in decision-making. In 2021, 16.1% of the population from the Georges River area were individuals aged 12 to 24 years old.
We base our youth services on empowerment, purposeful engagement, and inclusiveness. We want to ensure that we hear the voices of young people.
Community Development Programs and Initiatives
We know that local services meet the needs of young people. We partner with local groups to support the youth's learning and development. We have programs that showcase the positive contributions of local youth. These programs build leadership and creativity skills, while also celebrating inclusion and diversity.
We partner with local organisations and support community programs. We coordinate a network of youth sector professionals, named St George Youth Network.
Youth Advisory Committee
The Georges River Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) allows young people to work with us and have their voices heard, while also addressing their needs and goals.
Applications to join the YAC are now open via an expression of interest on Council's Your Say webpage.
To learn more about our Youth Advisory Committee, you can hear from some of our members in the video below.
