Applications now open for Council’s Community Grants and Micro Grants

02/02/2024

Georges River Council is calling on local community organisations, residents, and businesses to apply for funding through Council’s Community Grants and Micro Grants programs, with workshops and information sessions available to assist with the application process.

Community Grants Round 2 has two categories, Small Projects for grants of up to $10,000 and Major Projects, with grants of up to $25,000 available for each successful applicant.

Community Grants enable organisations to deliver projects that meet identified community needs in the Georges River area and encourage community participation and inclusion.

Community Grant funding priorities for this round include anti-racism, employment and participation pathways for people with disability, inclusivity and access in sports among others.

Micro Grants of up to $1,000 are available for residents, groups, organisations and businesses to support community wellbeing, innovation and social change through grassroots initiatives.

Council is seeking applications which align with the Community Strategic Plan and others including the Create Georges River Cultural Strategy, Disability Inclusion Action Plan, Libraries Georges River Library Strategy, and the Social Justice Charter.

Applicants are also encouraged to collaborate with other local groups and organisations on projects.

Georges River Council Mayor Sam Elmir said, “Council’s grants present a fantastic opportunity for local organisations, residents and businesses to secure initial funding or an additional boost to contribute positive social change in Georges River.”

Georges River Council has also launched its Grants Help Hub to assist applicants with their submissions, providing resources and support to bolster grant skills to improve applications.

The Grants Help Hub includes online training and details around upcoming development workshops and information sessions.

Mayor Elmir welcomed the addition of the Grants Help Hub and said the new resource along with workshops and information sessions would allow any potential applicants to ensure their submissions align with relevant council plans and strategies.

“We want applicants to be well-prepared so they can deliver the strongest grant application they can. That’s why the team is on hand for support and to answer any questions they may have.

“I encourage all applicants to think about where there is a need in the local community and how their programs are seeking positive change in Georges River.

“Council looks forward to receiving submissions from local organisations, residents and businesses, and wishes applicants all the best with their grant submissions,” added the Mayor.

Potential applicants are welcome to attend a workshop or information session of their choice by registering. More information is available on the Grants Help Hub webpage.

The first information session will be held on Tuesday 6 February from 2.00pm – 3.30pm.

Applications for Community Grants Round 2 close on Wednesday 13 March at 11.59pm.
