On Monday 5 February 2024, Georges River Council commenced proceedings in the Local Court charging an individual with offences under the Companion Animals Act 1998, in relation to a dog attack that occurred in Boggywell Creek, Lugarno on 9 July 2023 where a woman and her pet dog, while on a walk, were attacked by two dogs which resulted in serious injuries to the woman and the death of her dog.
 
The matter will be before Sutherland Local Court on 19 March 2024.
 
As this matter is now before the Local Court, Council is not in a position to make further comment.
