A new chapter for Georges River as six new Councillors elected

A new look Council has been voted in for Georges River, following the NSW Local Government Elections which took place on Saturday 14 September 2024. 

We are welcoming six new Councillors, with nine being re-elected for the new term.

The newly formed Council is as follows:

Blakehurst Ward

  • Oliver Dimoski, Liberal
  • Kathryn Landsberry, Labor
  • Natalie Mort, Georges River Residents and Ratepayers

Hurstville Ward

  • Nancy Liu, Liberal
  • Leon Pun, Labor
  • Ben Wang, Independent

Kogarah Bay Ward

  • Elise Borg, Georges River Residents and Ratepayers
  • Thomas Gao, Labor
  • Sam Stratikopoulos, Liberal

Mortdale Ward

  • Ashvini Ambihaipahar, Labor
  • Tom Arthur, Labor
  • Christina Jamieson, Georges River Residents and Ratepayers

Peakhurst Ward

  • Matthew Allison, Georges River Residents and Ratepayers
  • Elaina Anzellotti, Labor
  • Peter Mahoney, Georges River Residents and Ratepayers

Georges River Council General Manager David Tuxford said “I’d like to extend my congratulations to both our newly elected and re-elected Councillors. 

“Their leadership and vision will be pivotal in guiding the Georges River community forward within their wards and the local government area as a whole.

“Together we will continue to build on Georges River as Sydney’s Connected Community where every voice is heard, and every idea has the power to shape our future. I look forward to the positive impact they will bring,” he said. 

At the Extraordinary Meeting of Council on Monday 14 October 2024, Councillors will take their Oath or Affirmation of Office with a new Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Standing Committee representation to be elected. The community can tune into the meeting via Council’s website.
