Council is now inviting public feedback on Draft Amendment No. 5 to the Georges River Development Control Plan 2021 (the draft DCP).
The draft DCP amendment has been carefully prepared to introduce subdivision, lot consolidation, and boundary adjustment controls within Heritage Conservation Areas (HCAs).
The purpose of these proposed controls is to ensure that developments take into consideration the impacts on the established subdivision patterns of HCAs.
Lot sizes and configurations are a key characteristic of the established rhythm and defining subdivision pattern of an HCA.
The draft DCP amendment will be on public exhibition until 8 December, 2023.
During this time, residents and stakeholders are encouraged to review the exhibition materials and provide feedback on the proposed controls.
Materials will be accessible on Council's website and in hard copies at Council's Georges River Customer Service Centre in Hurstville, as well as at Hurstville and Clive James (Kogarah) Libraries.
The public exhibition process is in accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021, ensuring transparency and community engagement.
A report summarising the outcomes of the community consultation will be submitted to Council following the public exhibition period.
Georges River Council Mayor Sam Elmir shared his thoughts on the forthcoming public exhibition, saying, "We are committed to engaging with the community to ensure that any changes to our development control plan are well-informed and responsive to the needs of our local area.
“We encourage residents to participate in the public exhibition process and provide their valuable feedback”.
