Georges River Council is inviting the community to participate in its National Tree Day events including tree planting at Pearce Avenue Reserve, and a native plant giveaway from the Mortdale depot on Sunday 28 July.
Council’s biggest bush care event of the year will see attendees able to get hands-on and participate in the creation of a native plant corridor within the Georges River local government area, led by Council’s Bushcare team.
Planet Ark’s National Tree Day started in 1996 and has subsequently grown into Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature care event. Each year around 300,000 people volunteer their time to engage in environmental activities that enrich their communities for people and wildlife.
Those attending are encouraged to bring their own hats, gloves and water bottle to stay necessarily protected and hydrated throughout the day. No prior experience is required to participate, as guidance will be provided by experienced Bushcare team members.
Mayor Sam Elmir said “National Tree Day is a unique chance for our community to unite and make a positive impact on our environment. Through the thoughtful planting of diverse species, we enhance the beauty of our parks, create sanctuaries for local wildlife, and boost biodiversity for future generations.”

Time: 10.00am – 1.00pm.
