Requesting Commercial bin services

Bin collection services provided to commercial properties are not provided automatically. Services are paid for through a commercial rates account with Georges River Council.

To request a commercial bin service please complete the following application.

Council’s Fees and Charges have been adopted for 2024/25. The fees and charges relating to commercial waste services are highlighted as follows:

Commerical general waste bin service (240L) - once weekly $738.00
Commerical general waste bin service (1100L) - once weekly $3072.00
Commerical recycling bin service (240L) - once weekly $372.00
Commercial general waste bin service (240L) - twice weekly $1476.00
Commercial general waste bin service (1100L) twice weekly $6144.00
Commercial recycling bin service (240L) twice weekly $744.00

Commercial bin collections and size

Three commercial bins sizes general waste red lidded bin 1100L, General waste red lidded bin 240L and recycle yellow lidded bin 240L


Commercial properties requiring a Council waste service can request the following options:

  • 240L General waste bin – commercial general waste bin service.
  • 240L recycling bin – commercial recycling bin service.
  • 1100L waste – commercial general waste bin service.

Please note: Garden organic services are not available to commercial properties. If you need this service a private contractor can be sought.

  • Bin storage and collection requirements

    To ensure waste collection services are provided, Council requires the following: 

    • Ensure bins do not weigh more than 70kg

    • Lids must be closed

    • Place bins on the kerbside in a single row. They must face the road and be spaced at least 30 centimetres apart

    • Do not put bins near trees, overhanging wires, parked cars or any other obstacles

    • Place bins on the kerbside no earlier than 12 hours before collection (unless otherwise specified by Council)

    • Remove bins from kerbside within 12 hours of the collection and store them on private property (unless otherwise specified by Council)

    Note: By not adhering to these presentation and collection requirements, you risk non-collection of the bin. 

  • What goes in my general waste bin

    Place only the following items in your general waste bin:

    • Soft plastics, plastic bags, cling wrap, plastic wrappers, bubble wrap.

    • Food scraps.

    • Styrofoam/polystyrene.

    • Broken glass ( wrapped in paper).

    • Ceramics.

    • Nappies.

    • Damaged clothing /shoes if unable to donate or upcycle.

  • What goes in my recycle bin?

    Only the following items can be placed into your recycle bin:

    • Plastic containers, (empty and clean) margarine tubs, yoghurt tubs, shampoo bottles, detergent bottles,takeaway food containers.

    • Soft drink and water bottles.

    • Glass jars and bottles.

    • Aluminium, beer and soft drink cans, aluminium foil scrunched into 5cm ball, coffee, Milo, formula tins.

    • Paper (not shredded) , envelopes, glossy magazines, newspapers, wrapping paper (not foil).

    • Fruit juice and milk cartons (not silver lined).

    • Cardboard (flattened), cereal boxes (remove plastic bag), egg cartons, greeting cards, paper towel (roll only), toilet paper (roll only).

    • Steel, food cans, beer bottle tops, jar lids.

  • Contamination of the recycle bin

    Contaminated recycle bins will have a contamination sticker placed on them. Check the sticker for details of the contamination.

    Contamination can cause issues with machinery at the Recycling Recovery centre. To see what goes into the recycle bin see above information.

    Recycle bins that are contaminated may not be collected.

  • How to dispose of bulky waste
    Council does not provide commercial properties with kerbside collections for bulky items or access to the E-waste or Chemical Clean Out events. These are for residential properties only.

  • Illegal dumping

    Illegal Dumping and littering are offences under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 and may attract fines.

    If you see illegal dumping or find dumped materials, Please report it to Council using our Log It/Fix It service or by email to mail@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au.

  • Engaging a suitable waste contractor

    Each commercial property within the Georges River LGA should engage a suitable waste collection contractor.

    The Council commercial waste service is limited and will not suit the needs of every business.
