We have prepared the Kogarah North Precinct Public Domain Plan (the 'Plan') to support the Kogarah North Urban Design Strategy. This Plan will guide the transformation of the Kogarah North Precinct (the 'Precinct) into a new high density residential environment. The key aims of the Plan are to:
- Reflect the role of the Precinct as being part of a Strategic Centre;
- Provide streetscape design guidelines for public domain improvements for private development; and
- Identify works and associated costings for Section 7.11 and 7.12 Contributions Plans.
In April 2018, we sent letters to residents in the Precinct inviting their comments. No formal submissions were received. The draft Plan was also available on Council’s ‘Your Say’ webpage and ten comments were received. These comments related to:
- Parking and traffic movements;
- Pedestrian safety issues and support for active transport;
- Improved public domain works (including capturing winter sun in the public areas within the Precinct); and
- Need for infrastructure to support the future high-rise developments including improved transport, medical, shops and local streets.
The final Plan addresses the issues raised including:
- Providing a better public domain;
- Improving traffic movements;
- Increasing the tree canopy; and
- Improving the quality of this Precinct.
The Plan was presented to Council on 25 February 2019. Refer to the Council resolution here.
